Community Impact: Our Programs
Project Rebirth promotes the preparedness needs of first responders, by advancing educational initiatives committed to pre-trauma resiliency building. Feedback from hundreds of screenings worldwide informs us that watching the film - especially within a closely connected community - is an experience that inspires reflection and opens communications about one's own experience. Through special screenings, REBIRTH is a strategic tool to initiate dialogue, create understanding about resilience, and promote preparedness for disasters in the future. The organization has partnered with Georgetown and Columbia Universities to use the film and related content to educate about 9/11, and to prepare social workers, nurses and others about future disaster response. Therapeutic programs in the field include the New York Police Department Executive Training Unit, the Arlington County Fire Department in Virginia, the USO, the Ride2Recovery, TAPS, among others. Through these partnerships, we provide the film and our materials to help those who serve, and to empower those who will to carry this message forward.
Project Rebirth and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum have been working in partnership to support the release of REBIRTH with a mutual commitment for the film and related content to have a meaningful place at the future 9/11 Museum. The film will be shown in the auditorium on a regular basis as well as to private audiences outside of the normal operating schedule. In addition, Project Rebirth will produce two new bodies of work: an immersive exhibition experience; and a compilation of an additional nine short films about each of people interviewed by Project Rebirth. This content will be restorative and one that is appropriate and beneficial for all ages. School groups of all levels will be encouraged to attend and educational workshops can be provided on site or virtually.
Project Rebirth continues to pilot programs to support 9/11 education initiatives in secondary schools and community education settings.
